Napa Valley College is seeking an individual with demonstrated administrative skills to join an outstanding team of faculty, staff, and administrators to provide high quality programs and services to our district, our community, and most importantly, our students.
The incumbent in this position will be planning, coordinating, and monitoring the implementation of a variety of college grants to ensure compliance with programmatic and fiscal requirements; and researching and identifying a variety of grant sources and providing technical assistance in the writing and review of grant proposals.
This job reports to Dean, Research, Planning and Institutional Effectiveness.
This is a full-time, 12-months-per-year, classified administrative position located at our main campus in Napa, California. The salary has an appropriate placement on Range 15 of the current Administrative/Confidential salary schedule. Initial salary placement is $7,208 to $7,947/month, with future steps up to $10,143/month. Placement on the salary schedule is commensurate with experience. The college offers a fringe benefit package including medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, employee assistance program, and retirement system membership. Assignment includes 20 paid holidays, 22 vacation days, and 12 days sick leave annually.

SKILLS are required to perform single, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: planning and managing projects, operating standard office equipment; preparing and maintaining accurate records; utilizing pertinent software applications; and grantsmanship.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: principles of grant administration; principles of grant accounting and reporting; methods and techniques of grant proposal writing; federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations related to grant development and management; District organization, operations, policies and procedures; research methods and techniques used in grant fund development; principles and practices of budget preparation and administration; organization and management of records; computer applications, systems, and hardware used in grant management.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; often gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with datautilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: planning, coordinate, and monitor a variety of college grants; interpret and apply federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations related to college grant development and management; present complex information in a clear and concise manner; setting priorities with limited supervision; exercise critical judgment; train and provide technical assistance to others; prepare clear, comprehensive, and effective reports; meeting deadlines and schedules; organizing and communicating information and concepts; working with detailed information/data; and demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic background of community college students.
Responsibility:
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; providing information and/or advising others; monitoring budget expenditures. Utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization's services.
Working Environment:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
Experience:
Three years of full-time, paid, professional-level experience in grant administration or a related area.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in job-related area from an accredited institution.
