Project Summary:

We are looking for a Jr Designer/Drafter that specializes in Piping Design that s had experience in either Petro-Chem, semiconductor, or food & beverage. A Designer/drafter that has had experience with P&IDs as well.

The Role:

Designer to support the permit, construction, and fabrication drawing development for HVAC Piping systems within our Texas manufacturing facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for equipment, and pipe routing in Revit. Using industry best practices that conform to building codes and standards. The candidate will also coordinate with other disciplines and work with our construction team to develop fabrication drawings. Will also work with structural engineering team for supports and seismic bracing. Lastly will be responsible for drawing layout and annotation.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced drafting and design services by preparing, coordinating, and maintaining engineering, fabrication, and construction/fabrication drawings for mechanical piping systems.
• Produce mechanical piping drawings for the purpose of permitting, fabrication, and construction to support manufacturing and facilities.
• Layout and coordinate mechanical equipment to facilitate the installation and fabrication.
• Develop simple to high-level designs/layouts through fabrication level 3D models and spool drawings
• Prepares bill of material estimates from model for procurement and estimating.
• Field surveys and as-built drawings

Desired Skills and Experience

• 3 years of detailing and coordination experience in mechanical piping design
• Associates degree or completion of a technical trade school + 2 years of pipe fitting experience.
• Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
• Experience in pipe fitting field or working with an HVAC fabricator preferred.
• Knowledge of different piping systems and proper joining methods.
• Able to produce fabrication and spool drawings a plus.

Tasks and requirements:

• The designer will be responsible for design, layout, and detail drafting of moderate to complex mechanical piping systems on heavy industrial and manufacturing projects
• Experience with design and drafting of industrial mechanical piping systems including 3D modeling, one-line drawings, P&ID drawings, mechanical piping routing, supports, able to read mechanical piping specifications, instrument lists, and understands coordination.
• Ability to create, read and interpret construction drawings and sketches.
• 3D modelling design experience using Revit and/or AutoCAD
• In addition to mechanical piping systems, familiarity with multi-disciplined industrial or manufacturing projects is desired. Other design/drafting assignments may include:
• Structural steel and concrete
• Industrial buildings
• Ductwork drawings
• Site work
• Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
• Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
• Ability to collect, organize. and analyze information from field walks to generate construction plans.
• Conduct field walks in a variety of conditions to verify design intent was met during construction.
• Sound comprehensive knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawing, CAD/graphics, computer modelling work, and preparation of mechanical piping drawings.
• Creating and managing technical Bills of Materials and Revit schedules
• Ability to design mechanical piping schematics
• Ensures that anticipated problems in manufacture, assembly, installation, and operation are resolved by the drawings produced
• Read and understand controls drawings and red-lines
• Understand configuration control process and revision process
• Work with suppliers, engineers, and customers to resolve documentation issues
• Ability to update designs from verbal or written instructions
• Excellent attention to detail required
• Desired knowledge in areas including pipe flow and distribution, control systems, mechanical piping cods, specifications, and P&IDs.
