The ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) Technician - Early Intervention will work directly with the children served by GoodLife’s North Star Academy (NSA). Many of these students are diagnosed with autism or other intellectual or developmental disabilities and have substantial skill deficits and engage in severe problem behavior. This position will work with these students to implement behavior management procedures and skill acquisition programs.This position is ideally suited for:
Qualifications and Requirements:
1. A high school diploma (or equivalent) required; Bachelor’s degree preferred;
2. Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential required;
3. Experience working with individuals with autism, other intellectual or developmental disabilities, and/or severe problem behavior preferred;
4. An interest in developing skills related to applied behavior analysis, function-based assessment and treatment of problem behavior, data-driven programming, research-supported approaches to skill acquisition, and behavioral research;
5. Ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written mediums;
6. Ability to pass all NSA-specific competency checks;
7. Ability to maintain a neutral affect and professional composure in the midst of chaotic situations;
8. Ability to assist individuals with personal care tasks, including toileting routines, with sensitivity and age- and skill-appropriate privacy;
9. Ability to perform standard first aid and physical management procedures including, but not limited to, repetitive lifting, kneeling, bending, stooping, blocking, reaching, grasping, pushing, and pulling motions;
10. Ability to pass the GoodLife’s physical and agility tests;
11. Ability to repetitively lift significant amounts of weight and ability to perform unassisted transitions of children and adolescents with limited motor skills;
12. Ability to work as part of a team, including flexibility and adaptability in regards to daily task assignments;
13. Ability to operate a motor vehicle, which includes proof of a valid driver’s license, an ability to maintain automobile liability insurance as required by state law in Kansas and/or Missouri, and an ability to qualify as a driver under insurance guidelines.
